Treatments

A young female dentist working in her office.

Fillings

These fix cavities in teeth. They can be silver or white. On the NHS, only front teeth are fixed with white fillings and back teeth are filled with amalgam – a silver coloured material. However, at Fullarton Dental Care we also offer white fillings on back teeth on a private basis.

Crowns

A crown is a cap which covers your entire natural tooth. A crown may be provided if your tooth is too broken or decayed to be fixed with a filling. Sometimes crowns are provided for cosmetic reasons. Crowns are available in different materials namely: metal; metal fused to porcelain; or all ceramic. On the NHS metal crowns are provided for back teeth and white (metal fused to porcelain) on front teeth. Privately, we can provide white crowns for back teeth and all ceramic crowns which provide superior aesthetics and strength.

Bridges

A bridge offers a fixed solution to replace a missing tooth or teeth. Different types of bridges are available. Some types of bridge may only be available privately. All bridges rely on the natural teeth to support the artificial tooth/teeth.

Veneers

A veneer is a porcelain facing which covers the front of the tooth. It is generally provided for cosmetic reasons and therefore is usually only available privately.

Root treatment

A tooth may require root treatment if it is very decayed, broken or there is an infection. Root treatment involves thorough cleaning of the inside of the tooth (root canals) and carefully filling it back up with special root filling material. The tooth then is filled or crowned. Contrary to popular belief root treatment is not sore and we have even had people fall asleep whilst having it done!

Extractions

At Fullarton Dental Care we always try to save natural teeth were possible but sadly sometimes the tooth has to be removed often due to decay or infection.

Dentures

Dentures can replace one or more missing teeth. They are also called “false teeth” or “plates”. They can be made out of plastic or plastic and metal. Dentures are removable.

Tooth whitening

Professional tooth whitening is a safe and easy way to improve the appearance of your teeth. At Fullarton Dental Care we fit custom made bleaching trays made from impressions of your mouth. We provide effective and safe whitening gel and give tailored advice for each patient on its use.

Interestingly, the majority of the public are unaware that tooth whitening which is not carried out by a dental professional is actually illegal. Always have your teeth whitened by a dentist.

Fissure sealants

These are a preventive measure for children to help prevent decay in their adult molar teeth. The sealant is a white coating which is put into the grooves of back teeth to prevent food getting stuck.

Facial rejuvenation

Our face is one of the most distinguishing features on our entire body.  As we grow older, fine lines, age spots and wrinkles appear.  Facial rejuventation has become ever increasingly popular as many seek various procedures to help restore a youthful appearance.
There are a number of procedures available and are provided here at Fullarton Dental Care.  All our procedures are carried out by our associate dentist Charis Brady.  Rest assured, that with the combination of Charis’ knowledge, passion for facial aesthetics and compassion for each and every person she treats, you have found a professional practitioner who will provide top quality treatment and results.
Treatments include:
• Botulinum toxin injections more commonly known as “botox”.  This is the UK’s most popular cosmetic procedure which is used to reduce the appearance of lines on the forehead, frown lines and wrinkles  around the eyes (crows feet).  It is recommended taht this procedure is repeated every 3-4 months to maintain the improved results. Prices start at £150 for 1 area.
• Dermal fillers – with time natural volume of the skin is lost as hyaluronic acid diminishes.  HA dermal fillers are used to replace this lost hyaluronic acid and can be used for smoothing and filling wrinkles, lip augmentation, restoring facial volumes and rehydrating the skin.  Dermal fillers normally last approx 9 months and should be re-administered to maintain results.
